LearntoEarn
Amperzand/HQ is fully empowered with 26% of the company owned by Learn to Earn.
Learn to Earn is a skills training and job creation organisation which seeks to develop unemployed people, socially, economically, emotionally and spiritually. Its vision is to eradicate unemployment and other legacies of the old South Africa. It provides training and skills programmes that recognise human dignity and assist individuals in regaining their self-respect by empowering people to provide for themselves and for their families.
Learn to Earn has branches in Khayelitsha, Hermanus and Durbanville. The communities it serves are previously disadvantaged, with unemployment rates ranging from 30% to 70%. The training offered recognises the socio-economic problems faced by people in these communities, in that it not only focuses on giving people practical skills (sewing, baking, woodwork, computers, business skills, etc) but also addresses other critical social issues such as HIV/AIDS, Literacy and Numeracy, Alcohol & Drug Abuse, Domestic Violence, Job Preparation and much more. Learn to Earn further assists its graduates to become economically active through job placement, small business start-ups and contract work through the Zakhele incubator programme.
